Q: What do I need to bring on safari?
A: Comfortable clothes, walking shoes, warm jacket for evenings and night/morning drives, swimwear, sunscreen, hats, cameras, long pants, change of clothing for following day, binoculars, chargers for electronics, cash for tipping guides & staff, bug repellent and water.
Q: Are young children welcome?
A: Young children below the age of 5 are not allowed on select reserves, please enquire about the possibility in your booking
Q: Will there be wifi at the accommodation?
A: There will be wifi at the safari lodges and guest areas, although the speed is not guaranteed as you are out in nature.
Q: Do I need vaccinations/medications during safari?
A: The Eastern Cape safari region is malaria free, so you do not need anything.
Q: Can I forward special meal request/allergies?
A: Please submit any special requests in your booking enquiry and we will make sure its done. (vegan, vegetarian, gluten free etc)
Q: Will I be able to see the BIG 5 on safari?
A: If you book your safari experience at Amakhala, Shamwari, Kariega and Pumba then there is a high possibility of seeing the Big 5. Although we cannot guarantee the sightings of all the species, the chances are always there. You will get to see a wide variety of South African species on all safaris.
Q: How can I pay for the booking?
A: Preferably an EFT is best, but cash is accepted. There is the option of paying for the booking at your accommodation with credit card. Please forward proof of payment to firstname.lastname@example.org (If paying by EFT)
Q: What is excluded in package rate?
A: Guide gratuities, souvenir shopping. Please check each unique package for detailed information
Q: What is included in package rate?
A: Pick up from your accommodation, transfer to destination in safe transport and guide, overnight accommodation, all game drives, entry fees to reserves, refreshments on drive, dinner and drinks, morning game drives, breakfast, drop off at accommodation. (breakfast, lunch & dinner included on longer stays)
Q: Do I need to arrange my own transfer?
A: Transfers are included to select destinations. Freewalker meet you at your accommodation and drop you off after a enjoyable trip. We can arrange different drop off locations on request.
Q: How far in advance do I need to book?
A: Anytime in advance up until the day before the safari. We can take last minute bookings but preferably need time to arrange all aspects of your experience. Please email: email@example.com with your enquiry.
Q: Finance, cards and cash?
A: Local currency: South African Rand (R) Foreign Credit/Debit cards work at all ATM’s. Many establishments do accept Visas and Master Cards, but it is recommended to travel with some cash. The Rand is the only currency accepted in South Africa.
Q: Can I use my credit card in South Africa?
A: All major credit cards, including Visa, American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard, are accepted at most hotels, shops, restaurants and activities. Proof of identification may be requested in some instances and it is useful to carry a passport or some copied proof of identification.
