VOLUNTEER TEACHING | EDUCATION VOLUNTEERING SOUTH AFRICA | PORT ELIZABETH
The Free Walker organisation is assisting in the development of a stimulating learning environment through building a computer room, library and general upliftment of the school. The children of the Kwa-Ford school have never been exposed to computers, thus are unprepared and have a disadvantage for achieving higher education or being competitive in the job market. The main focus behind developing a computer room for the school is to broaden the education of the learners through exposure to basic computer and writing skills and connecting them to the outside world through internet.
The first step is to acquire twenty functioning computers. Once the computers are in place, all the teachers in the school will go through a computer training course. A general computer skills course will then be taught by the current teachers and the use of computers will be incorporated into all curriculums in school. Imagine what we can achieve by installing computers and creating a whole new classroom for the school. The children of the Kwa-Ford school have never been exposed to computers, thus are unprepared and have a disadvantage for achieving higher education or being competitive in the job market.
