Sports Equipment Donations.
Sporting equipment is lacking big time at the school. We have had donations from schools in Port Elizabeth, but it is mainly old and used sport equipment. The equipment that the school has does not last very long because of the harsh conditions on which the sport is being played and that the equipment is pretty old and fragile. The children at Kwa-ford have the world of energy and are not able to play sport because there just is no opportunity. Children need to play sport for so many good reasons, lets get them playing. I have seen so much talent floating around on the field at break times and when the previous volunteers have played and coached them. I think it is such a waste seeing someone not using the talent given to him, because it is simply not possible to do it at the school he is at.
Sports Clothing.
Once the children have been coached into teams and are now able to qualify in school leagues then they will require proper Kwa-ford school sport uniform. Lets create something for them to play towards and create a sense of pride amongst all the individuals playing together as their new little teams. Once other similar schools see what we are doing and can be done with a little time and effort then they might just follow suit and strive to become like this new look school. Maybe we start something new, open more eyes to what is happening here and make a change. It is completely worth it once you have seen the school, location, children and what they have and have not.
Proper Sports Room For The Sports Equipment.
There is a room designated to storing anything and everything that the school owns. With a little help we can create some order in the room and build proper locker rooms and storage facilities to store all the equipment. With proper storage and some order we can keep everything neat and tidy and look after the equipment more, making it last longer and teaching the children to look after what they have.
Cricket Nets, Cricket Pitch And Scoreboard.
Cricket is a sport that the school can easily introduce into their sporting curriculum. There is a field available for renovations. In cricket season we can prepare the pitch on the soccer field for play. The school will also need practice nets for the teams and a scoreboard for games. This sport seems to be enjoyed by the kids and is an ever growing sport in South Africa. Help us to teach them the game and create a few teams at the school and get them competing against other schools.

There is one simple field at the school which soccer, rugby and other activities are played on. The conditions of the field are appalling but the children want to plat none the less. They need to play. The field has grass patches covered by open dirt patches, not what most of us have been accustomed to, its something we take for granted that means so much to other less fortunate people. With your help we can hopefully produce a field that’s fit to play sport on. Along with upgrading the sports field we also want to re-do the surface of the netball field for the girls to play on and hopefully put up a wall for the children to hit balls against, like tennis, something they have not previously had.
